Chapter 79

The Context Calibration Exercise

0 min read

Practice with this progression:

Round 1 - No Context: "How do I increase sales?"

Round 2 - Basic Context: "How do I increase sales for my online course?"

Round 3 - Rich Context: "How do I increase sales for my $497 online course teaching Python to data analysts? Currently converting at 0.5% from email list of 5,000. Main objection is 'too expensive for beginners.' Competitors price at $197-297."

Round 4 - Optimal Context: "Context: I sell a $497 Python course for data analysts. Current funnel: Email list (5,000) → Sales page (0.5% conversion).

Problems: - Main objection: 'too expensive for beginners' (but it's actually intermediate level) - Competitors: $197-297 (but less comprehensive) - Refund rate: 15% (industry standard: 10%)

Assets: 100+ five-star reviews, 3 free mini-courses, active LinkedIn presence

Goal: 2% conversion rate within 30 days without dropping price

Constraints: $1,000 marketing budget, no paid ads experience, 10 hours/week available"

Notice how each level produces increasingly specific and actionable advice.
